Macro Regime

Instruments of the macro-regime

The six instruments constitute the macro development regime for climate action and the NDCs, as they are international public policy tools that dialogue with each other and incorporate central considerations of different global tools for sustainable development. Together, they guide the development agendas of different countries around the world, providing guidance for their financing and implementation in the face of the challenges of climate change. The NDCs are the interface between global, national and local concerns and responses.

The NDC they are the meeting point between concerns and global, national and local responses.

Instruments of the macro-regime

Are related to four general considerations that guide the elaboration, implementation and monitoring of NDCs:

  • Climate action is fundamental to fostering sustainable development and eradicating poverty in countries.

  • Managing or reducing the risk of climate disasters is a pillar of sustainable development, considering the economic, humanitarian and social impacts caused by extreme events.

  • The mitigation and adaptation objectives of the NDCs are instruments that contribute to the protection and promotion of human rights in the face of the multiple challenges that climate change brings to the rights agenda.

  • Climate governance is a means for NDC implementation to be multilevel, cross-sectoral, participatory and inclusive, transparent, efficient and effective.
